The Selected Policymaking Framework
The selected and most suitable policymaking framework is the advocacy coalition framework. This framework has been shown to be effective in approaching various problems connected to health disparity and health inequities (Porche, 2021). Through this model, an advocate plays the role of empowering individuals to make an informed decisions. The major foundation of this framework is its definition of policy advocacy which is regarded as a knowledge-based strategy that focuses on improving the health of individuals and the population by influencing system-level decisions. In addition, this policymaking framework also deals with the organization of various interest groups within the policy domains.
The advocacy coalition framework also provides a provision for understanding any policy disputes among various stakeholders, hence giving the policymakers appropriate time to work on the policy disputes and fine-tune various aspects to deliver the expected policy. Interest groups form an integral part of this policymaking framework, and therefore, the policy also operates on the fact that people usually hold preferences that are seriously engrained, hence driving their thinking regarding policy options. As such, public opinion plays a critical role in mobilizing coalitions with a major focus on supporting or changing regulations or legislation. Such a process is the advocacy coalition framework strategy.
The Policy and the Advocacy Strategy
The advocacy strategy of priority is patient education and health promotion. Patients sometimes lack adequate knowledge to help them make informed decisions and choices regarding how they should go about promoting healthy living. Therefore, patients get infectious diseases and chronic diseases, which lead to poorer health outcomes. As such, as an advocacy strategy, patient education will be key (Abbasinia et al.,2020). The focus of education is on how to engage in a healthy living style, including physical exercise and diet, to prevent diseases like diabetes and hypertension. The advocacy coalition framework can be key in this advocacy strategy as it offers a foundation for empowering the patients to make informed decisions regarding their help. The policy will also be used to influence the decisions made by the patients and their family members for better health outcomes. As such, the chosen framework will help in moving the advocacy strategy forward.
Conclusion
The policymaking process plays a critical role in the healthcare sector to help enhance patient outcomes as appropriate. Therefore, it is key to use a policymaking framework. The advocacy coalition framework of policymaking has been explored in this write-up, and how it can be used to support a chosen policy advocacy to help improve patient outcomes.
