Description of my Core Values
Core values drive the conduct and actions of nurses and nurse leaders as they deal with patients from diverse backgrounds. Effective and influential leaders, especially in nursing, embodies certain admirable characteristics that include integrity, transparency, trust and respect, and inspires as well as motivates the subordinates to buy into their vision and ideas. Core values like trust are earned when people believe in the integrity of the leader (Broome et al., 2022). Again, a core value of a leader is to ensure that all decisions and actions that they take are for the overall benefit of the majority. This means that transparency, honesty and integrity define a leader’s core values (Ruggiero et al., 2019). Effective leaders transform others through instilling confidence and ensuring that they possess the right knowledge and skills to succeed in their roles, duties and responsibilities.
Personal Mission and Vision Statement
My mission is to utilize the skills, attributes and values that I possess to make my workplace or practice setting transformative for the benefit of patients through effective and patient-centered care delivery. Imperatively, my vision is to offer compassionate, culturally-sensitive and patient-centered, nurse-driven care to all patients irrespective of their diversity. I want to promote quality care to diverse patients to allow them attain the best outcomes.
Analysis of Clifton Strengths Assessment
The Clifton Strengths Signature Theme Report reveals certain strengths that I possess. These include being focused, strategic and relator, learner and achiever (Gallup, 2022). The assessment shows a true reflection of my strengths as being focuses ensures that I prioritize and distinguish certain aspects in the care environment to meet patient needs. Being focused is essential to streamlining goals to attain consistency and longevity. Understanding where one should focus more reduces possible burnout and lack of motivation for nurses P(ishgooie et al., 2019). Through this approach, one optimizes the available resources for the assigned duties to deliver exceptional patient care. The relator theme and being strategic means that one should work effective with others through inter-professional and multidisciplinary teams to offer quality patient care (Callado et al., 2023). Being a learner is essential as one focuses on areas that they should improve and achieve their set goals based on their mission and vision statement as well as organizational leadership support.
Two Key Behaviors to Strengthen
The two key areas that I should improve include effective communication and embracing diverse opinions from team members and colleagues at work. Effective communication with others is a core aspect of succeeding in multidisciplinary teams while accepting divergent views means that one is ready to change and incorporate what works in certain areas (Grossman et al., 2020). This implies that one has high levels of flexibility.
Developing Plan to attain these strengths
The plan to attain these areas and improve will entail enrolling for professional leadership training courses at the facility. The second aspect will entail embracing diversity and seeking more knowledge and skills in cultural competency (Hassmiller et al., 2020). Through this approach, I will understand the significance of cultural differences and acceptance of innovative ways of doing things.
Conclusion
Nurses and nurse leaders should have personal leadership philosophies to provide guiding principles and the formation of right attitudes as they deal with patients from diverse backgrounds. Leadership philosophies with mission and vision statement allow nurses to impact care provision resulting in improved patient experience. The implication is that nurse leaders should seek ways to improve their behaviors and judgment for better patient outcomes.

PERSONAL LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHIES
Many of us can think of leaders we have come to admire, be they historical figures, pillars of the industry we work in, or leaders we know personally. The leadership of individuals such as Abraham Lincoln and Margaret Thatcher has been studied and discussed repeatedly. However, you may have interacted with leaders you feel demonstrated equally competent leadership without ever having a book written about their approaches.
What makes great leaders great? Every leader is different, of course, but one area of commonality is the leadership philosophy that great leaders develop and practice. A leadership philosophy is basically an attitude held by leaders that acts as a guiding principle for their behavior. While formal theories on leadership continue to evolve over time, great leaders seem to adhere to an overarching philosophy that steers their actions.
What is your leadership philosophy? In this Assignment, you will explore what guides your own leadership.
