Testing Scenario and Testing Mitigation Plan
Informatics solutions are usually formulated to help solve specific patient care problems after identifying them. Therefore, the implementation of such solutions goes through a whole process from start to finish and requires that the project implementers accomplish each phase appropriately. One such phase is testing scenarios and a mitigation plan. Testing scenarios are key in assessing the performance and functionality of a system or an improvement of a project’s performance (Dalal et al.,2019). The focus is to obtain results that can be used in ensuring that the flows and processes are functioning as required by the organization. Therefore, the purpose of this assignment is to develop a testing scenario and a testing mitigation plan that validates the functionalities of the proposed informatics solution.

Justification of the Purpose of the Proposed Testing Scenario.
The project focuses on the integration of health information exchange into the epic EHR. It was noted earlier that there exists a problem of poor interoperability, where there is always difficulty in retrieving information from outside organizations. The implication is that there is a need to standardize telephone- and fax-based approaches to information retrieval from outside the organization. Therefore, the testing scenario has been created to test how well the proposed solution would function. The process offers a chance to uncover any challenge that may arise with the program so that it can be fixed in time (Natsiavas et al.,2018).
The testing scenario was created by first gathering information regarding the integration of the new solution into the Epic EHR. After the literature study and review, a list of testing scenarios was then listed or made. The developed testing scenario applies to the proposed informatics solution since testing will make it easier to know if there are any problems with health information exchange integration into the EHR (Natsiavas et al.,2018). The process will allow a timeous fixing of any technical problem that may negatively impact interoperability for the desired outcomes and fulfillment of the proposed research goals.
The Items That Need to be Tested
The accomplishment of the testing scenario requires that various items to be tested are identified and listed. Some of the items include the workflow upon integration and information exchange between various modules. Since the project also focuses on interoperability upon integration, another test item is specific information exchange standards. The workflow upon integration needs to be tested to ensure that the new solution is not negatively impacting the normal workflow in the organization (Graham et al.,2021). A major focus of the project entailed information exchange between modules and staff. Therefore, the information exchange will also be tested to ensure that the speed and security are at the expected levels. In addition, specific information exchange standards will also be tested to ensure that the information exchange protocols all align with the established standards.
Strategies for Implementing the Testing
As discussed earlier, testing is key; hence it is important to employ the most appropriate strategy. One of the strategies will be unit testing which will entail testing the individual components or units of the health information exchange to ensure that they are operating as intended (Hoda et al.,2018). Since the project involves integration, another testing that will be carried out is integration testing which will focus on testing various components to make sure that they operate well as a system. The other strategy is system testing which will focus on testing the whole informatics solution to make sure that it fulfills the specific requirements. Stakeholders are key in testing; therefore, it is important to identify them. One of them is the IT technician in the organization who will perform the role of tester. Other stakeholders include the nurse informaticist, the nurse manager, physicians, the pharmacy leader, and the organization’s chief executive officer.
The Specific Elements Required for the Testing Phase
The testing phase is an important phase in software development and implementation. Therefore, the testing phase of this informatics project will require various elements. The elements include requirement analysis, which involves environment mapping, test planning, test case development, and test environment setup (Hoda et al.,2018). The other elements required include text execution and test reporting. Test plan documentation will be key as it will contain every detail that the tester would need to carry out a successful test. The data will be acquired from the tester’s perspectives. For example, they will be asked important questions regarding the solution, and their views and comments will be documented.
Documentation of the Test Results
Documentation of the test results is key as such information can be used to decide the next course of action. Therefore, various aspects will involve, such as outcomes, metrics, and team members. The findings will be shared with the developers, who can then take appropriate steps to correct areas of weakness (Hoda et al.,2018). As part of the mitigation plan, the developers will be needed to correct any technical problems which have been identified. Such a step will improve the informatics solution.
Conclusion
This informatics solution project entails the integration of a health exchange program into the Epic EHR. Such a step is expected to improve interoperability and information exchange between the healthcare professionals within the organization. Therefore, this phase has explored the testing scenario and mitigation plan.
