The implementation phase is one of the most important phases of an EBP project or process. This phase requires that every project stakeholder is brought on board and ensures that everyone fulfills their obligations and responsibilities. However, the implementation phase may face various barriers or obstacles, such as stakeholder barriers. The proposed EBP project may phase various stakeholder barriers. One of the stakeholder barriers is the failure to obtain buy-in. Failure to obtain stakeholder buy-in can lead to project implementation failure since the stakeholders will resist the efforts of implementing the project (Dang et al.,2021). Another potential barrier is resistance to the proposed change. Some stakeholders may feel left out by the activities used in the EBP efforts making them resist the proposed change or EBP.
It is important to overcome such stakeholder barriers by using various strategies. One of them is through efficient communication. An efficient communication process will help in letting the stakeholders know about the proposed EBP project and why the project has to be undertaken. Such a step will be key in helping the EBP implementers obtain buy-in. Another strategy is to timeously identify the stakeholders as appropriate and approach them as early as possible (Pollock et al.,2018). They can either be reached through physical means of one-on-one talks or through messages. Such a step will be key in reducing the chances of the stakeholders resisting the change effort. A colleague struggling with stakeholder support should employ various strategies to obtain the support. For example, the colleague can offer sufficient evidence to the stakeholders which demonstrates why they should support the proposed intervention and the potential benefits of supporting the initiative (Lehane et al., 2018). Such a strategy may arouse the stakeholder’s interest and hence obtain support.
