Descriptive Statistics
Researchers collect massive amounts of data to determine the relationship between variables. Descriptive statistics summarize a data set’s characteristics (Cooksey, 2020). Demographics are crucial to collect to understand the features of the population in more detail. Besides, researchers should ensure that there is adequate information and that the data sources are accurate. Electronic health records and participant interviews are common sources of demographic data.
The DPI project’s population is nurses. In the current health practice, nurses play a critical role in restoring health, patient advocacy, and health education, among other tasks. Their daily obligations increase the risk of physical, mental, and emotional fatigue, which increases the risk of nurse burnout (Shah et al., 2021; Clarke, 2023). As a result, the project sample will be nurses experiencing burnout. The problem (nurse burnout) is widespread in current healthcare settings and is a considerable barrier to adequate and timely care. Manifestations include dissatisfaction with the job, medical errors, increased cases of incivility, and a lack of teamwork (Dall’Ora et al., 2020). Addressing this problem is crucial for patient-centered care, nurse retention, and high job satisfaction.
During data collection, the relationship between variables will be examined using data. Appropriate demographic variables of the sample include age, gender, race, and marital status. In the current project, only age and gender data will be collected. This data can be obtained from questionnaires where nurses participating in the project will provide such information. In a research project, researchers should get adequate information to show the relationship between variables and factors influencing outcomes (Cooksey, 2020). Age and gender data will enable me to understand the background characteristics of the participants and whether there is a significant difference between these variables and nurse burnout. As a result, it will be possible to determine whether the practice problem is purely an environmental issue or whether other factors cause it.
