Planning and Requirements Definition
Each health information technology has discrete features, users, and purpose. In the planning and requirements definition phase, the implementation team prepares adequately for the task ahead. Also called the feasibility step, planning and requirements definition help to define the problem’s scope and outline the objectives of the new system (Dennis et al., 2021). As a result, the graduate-level nurse should be active in defining the task ahead and sharing roles appropriately. System Analysis

Design of the New System

System Implementation
Electronic health records (EHRs) and other systems are implemented to improve patient outcomes. In this phase, the graduate-level nurse can participate as a team member by assessing whether the system meets the desired quality standards. System piloting and operation-related tests such as integration and acceptance testing should be done. The other important exercise is load testing, which determines a system’s functionality under different loads (Taylor et al., 2018). The system is ready for patient care facilitation if it passes all the fundamental pre-implementation tests.
Post-Implementation Support
Electronic systems require maintenance and continuous updates to sustain performance. Post-implementation support includes continuous risk assessment, system updates, and user training. System updates should be a priority to improve compatibility and prevent security issues (Keshta & Odeh, 2021). User training ensures that end users can use the system appropriately for effective patient care. The graduate-level nurse can play selected or all roles as skills, confidence, and availability allow.
Conclusion
System implementation involves a series of steps to ensure that a system is functional and sustainable. As explained in this paper, the process commences with identifying the requirements and ends with post-implementation support. Each step is critical for the optimal performance of the new system. A graduate-level nurse’s roles differ from one step to the next, and mastering what each step entails is vital.
