As a nurse tasked with the responsibility of standardizing the discharge process, I will utilize the six sigma approach to ensure the success of the process. I will begin the process by defining the aims of the project. Defining will help me in identifying the critical information that is needed for breaking down the project, issue, and process into tangible terms (Antony et al., 2017). It will also inform the process improvement interventions that would be used in improving the process of discharge in the institution. The defining stage will therefore help me to determine the scope charter of the project, deliverables, timeline, and resources needed for the success of the project. The step that will follow is measuring. Measuring will entail the analysis of the current processes utilized in discharge planning in the unit. The analysis will provide insights into areas of improvement that should be addressed to enhance the outcomes of the project (Antony et al., 2017). Measuring will also entail the acquisition of data on the current processes utilized to aid in determining the feasibility of the interventions to be developed in the project.
