Type of Team, Goals, and Members

Organizations are vulnerable to many risks that should be identified and mitigated appropriately. I would create a risk management team to reduce the company’s probability and magnitude of risk. The team will be diverse in all ways possible and apply the current technologies and tools to enhance its effectiveness. The team’s goals will be primarily identifying, weighing, and intervening appropriately as far as the company’s exposure to loss is concerned. According to Godfrey et al. (2020), risk management’s primary goal is to prevent a company’s physical and human assets from damage, which applies to the team. All assets should be free from damage. The team will need ten members.

Roles and Responsibilities

Team members will collaborate to plan, communicate, and provide risk-related analytical support. Regarding planning, the team will routinely analyze risks, develop response planning strategies, and outline appropriate control activities. The communication role has much to do with informing the manager about risk policies and processes as deemed appropriate. Analytical support includes working together with other departmental members in strategic planning.

Incorporating Diverse Team Members

Diversity has gained much emphasis in today’s organization and should be considered when creating the team. To achieve this objective, I will consider a team that varies in skills and experiences. Departmental representation will also be considered to ensure that each department feels represented. Other considerations include age and gender variations, and ethnicity. Open communication will be encouraged to ensure that each team member participates actively in solutions-proposal and decision-making.

Value of Diverse Perspective and Experiences

A team differing in perspectives and experiences is highly creative and productive. According to Eswaran (2019), assembling people with different views on the same issue promotes creativity and innovation due to the freshness and ingenuity of ideas. Diversity also provides diverse solutions as team members brainstorm and consult each other. Different from cognitively similar people, diversity leads to better problem-solving and decision-making. Importantly, the inclusive nature of the team makes everyone feel represented and valued. Doing so increases the engagement levels leading to a proportional gain in the team’s productivity. Such benefits are required to manage risks in the company effectively.

Conclusion

Diversity within a team attracts more talents. Besides being reputable due to inclusiveness, a diverse team better solves problems and makes informed decisions. The risk management team should also be diverse to benefit similarly. Risk identification, analysis, and solution generation require a team approach. The team should comprise different skill levels, genders, ages, and ethnicities, among other elements promoting diversity.
