Work Environment Assessment

The work environment assessment tool is an essential technique that allows organizations and their employees to gauge the level of civility in the workplace and seek ways to address any incivility event (Marshall & Broome, 2021). The results of the work environment assessment show that the workplace is not healthy as it received a score of 55 implying that there needs to be more interventions to address the prevalence of incivility events. The results show the need for increased efforts to address the underlying issues like limited support from the management and leaders on the best way to model civility (Clark et al., 2022).

Two things that surprised me during the assessment were the results and the level of honesty among the employees. The outcomes of the assessment surprised me because I did not expect that low score and the several comments and suggestions that nurses made during the evaluation. Again, the level of honesty in their feedback or answers was astonishingly high and unwavering. I never imagined that they would be this candid to state what they believed was not working well and leading to the current situation. While the nurses were categorical that they may not be performing to their optimal levels, they challenged the management to institute better ways to deliver quality care to patients.

The results suggest that the health and civility of the workplace requires improvement to motivate nurses to provide better patient care (Clark et al., 2019). These results are critical as they demonstrate the need for supportive leadership and better teamwork while leveraging evidence-based practice (EBP) interventions to deliver quality care. The results suggest the need for improved and effective communication and collaboration among nurses and other providers to actualize better care delivery and patient outcomes.
