Inter-professional collaboration and specialty committees are essential to the growth and development of evidence-based practice knowledge and skills for different nurses in healthcare delivery. Nurse leaders are change agents who advocate for and promote effective understanding and application of evidence-based practice interventions like the use of spiritual and religious components in provision of quality care to patients. Studies highlight the importance of spiritual care and having a collaborative statement on its role is critical (Hawthorne et al., 202). However, such position statements must be acceptable by a majority of committee members as part of an inter-professional team. As a change agent and leader, it is the role of the nurse to approach the issue and committee from an objective perspective and have a fresh aspect to the contention.

The nurse leader should reason with the members of the committee using research evidence on the role of spiritual care in provision of holistic care for patients, especially those who require it or believe that it is a critical part of care (Nilsen et al., 2020). The nurse must approach the committee with the aim of ensuring that members develop a consensus on the issue. The nurse should emphasize the role spirituality plays and what it entails for patients to attain an acceptable position from the members (Şahin et al., 2022). For example, the changing trends and need for patient-centered care implores healthcare providers to consider the role of spiritual care in the overall journey of patients. spiritual care allows patients to integrate cultural and religious aspects of their lives into care and have a better experience with the healthcare system.

The change theory that would be applicable in this case is Lewin’s change model and transformation leadership approach where members will do their research and present findings (Porter-OGrady et al., 2019). Based on these findings, the committee will adopt a common position and collaborate more to deliver better care. As a transformational leader, the nurse should embrace new ideas and encourage members to brainstorm on the most evidence-based position.
