Evidence-based practice (EBP) in nursing has always been considered the gold standard for providing superior and individualized care to patients. Although there are immense benefits associated with EBP, its adoption in the healthcare system is significantly low (Li et al., 2019). This situation is linked to various reasons including a shortage of healthcare workforce, the cost of implementing EBP, lack of standardized nursing curriculum, and ethical issues.

The major issue for my organization in addressing a solution to EBP in nursing practice is unfavorable organization policy. Virtually every organization is guided by its policies concerning healthcare delivery to patients. My organization imposes an obligation on healthcare professionals to strictly adhere to the established care interventions and procedures. In turn, this sometimes puts healthcare professionals including nurses in a professional and ethical impasse when the principles of EBP application contradict the established organization’s policies (Kitson et al., 2021). The first step in addressing and resolving this issue is ensuring that the organization amends its policy to empower nursing practitioners to implement EBP in their clinical practice. However, the organization must consider the safety of the patients in the process of amending the policy. The organization can ensure the safety of patients by training nurses and ensuring their competency in the application of EBP. This can be achieved by motivating nurses to engage in training and continuous education (Al-Busaidi et al., 2019). Enhancing education in EBP application is critical in building the capacity of nurses in practicing nursing research, which is a vital component of EBP.
