In my workplace, and specifically in the emergency department settings, nurses apply evidence-based practice by staying current on the latest research related to emergency care and using that information to inform their decisions and interactions with patients. For instance, they often use evidence-based procedures/guidelines to decide which interventions or treatments to administer or when to order specific tests. To incorporate spirituality and self-care into practice for all patients and myself, I would take steps such as: encouraging patients to express their spiritual or religious needs and integrating them into their care plan (Ausar et al., 2021). Secondly, would enhance practices of providing patients with resources for spiritual support, such as chaplain services.

Modeling self-care by prioritizing my well-being and encouraging patients to do the same is another strategy that I would adhere to while incorporating spirituality and self-care into practice. Finally, I would encourage patients, nurses, or healthcare professionals to engage in meditation, yoga, or other spiritual practices. This practice is expected to facilitate treatment processes and enhance healing progressions.
Regarding the Christian worldview, Christian denominations view healthcare as an expression of Jesus Christ’s compassion and healing power (Ausar et al., 2021). Hence, when providing healthcare, spirituality and self-care are essential components to ensure holistic care for patients. Incorporating spiritual aspects in the treatment plan contributes to enhanced physical well-being and mental health. Furthermore, studies show that incorporating spiritual aspects in healthcare helps evoke a sense of hope, purpose, and meaning – all essential elements for better medical outcomes (Villas, 2020). In this way, healthcare providers guided by the Christian worldview strive to offer compassionate care that enriches their patient’s well-being beyond merely treating the illness they present with. In summary, incorporating spirituality and self-care aligns with the Christian worldview by showing compassion and providing holistic patient care.
