E-Learning Application
Nurses and other healthcare professionals should have adequate skills to provide competent care. Typically, they acquire clinical competencies through learning, which can be physical or online. Technology has allowed students to learn through many e-learning applications. Each application impacts the learning environment differently depending on its structure, how learning occurs, and students’ experiences.

A suitable e-learning application that can be used in academic and clinical settings is computer-managed learning (CML). Also known as computer-managed instruction, CML facilitates a learning experience using computer software (Elcokany et al., 2021). Suitable examples of this application include electronic modules (eModules) and online-accessible websites. In a typical learning environment, eModules integrate subject content with interactive questions and tailored feedback (Rajan & Pandit, 2022). As a result, the application is student-centered and provides two-way communication between the computer and the learner. On the other hand, online-accessible websites provide essential clinical information via traditional peer-reviewed materials or user-generated content (Kritek & Richards, 2019). Learners benefit from learning content that is individualized according to their needs. Learning goals can also be achieved on a satisfactory level since the learning process can be repeated until the student has mastered all the learning objectives. For teachers, such an application aids in educational management. The instructor can manage learning without doing the actual teaching.
Effective use of computer-managed learning applications can impact an academic setting positively by improving the learning experience and making learners enjoy learning. According to Gause et al. (2022), better learning outcomes are achieved through technologies when learners enjoy the process and the engagement level is high. Similarly, eModules have the capacity to achieve these goals. As Rajan and Pandit (2022) observed, eModules are used in neurosciences education to increase learning enjoyment and motivation. Besides, they are better than the traditional forms of teaching when it comes to testing performance. Online-accessible websites provide a wide range of materials that are easily accessible. Therefore, better learning outcomes can be achieved through CML.

Choose one e-learning application (discussed or not discussed this week), which you would like to learn more about—a topic of interest, but one you did not have the time to study. You may want to go back to the competencies you evaluated earlier in the course and advance your learning in one of those areas. Everyone should post the application/topic they are researching. The learning environment is enhanced when no more than 2 students do the same topic.
Research the application and present a detailed overview on how teachers and learners benefit from the opportunity to use the application. How can you impact an academic or clinical setting with this e-learning application?
Post your initial response by Wednesday at 11:59 PM EST. Respond to two students by Saturday at 11:59pm EST. The initial discussion post and discussion responses occur on three different calendar days of each electronic week. All responses should be a minimum of 300 words, scholarly written, APA formatted (with some exceptions due to limitations in the D2L editor), and referenced. A minimum of 2 references are required (other than the course textbook). These are not the complete guidelines for participating in discussions. Please refer to the Grading Rubric for Online Discussion found in the Course Resource module.
